Hitching Houses, Berkshire
The site for these three new dwellings can be found down an unmade unadopted road, on the very edge of Green Belt land – so enjoys far reaching uninterupted views across lush fields and to a copse in the distance.
The houses have been designed to offer open plan cooking, dining and living, at ground level, but with flexibility to be elevated at first floor, depending on occupancy and preferred use, to make the most of the stunning outlook. To the remaining first and second floor each property has further bedrooms, and a games room again with the view out towards the rolling fields.
The dwellings replace the last property to be redeveloped along this quite unique quiet stretch of road, with the high quality design seeking to encourage a more simplistic way of living – “the stay at home approach”, where the occupants simply enjoy their home and embrace its natural setting.
Materials have been kept simple, with a blend of brick, timber and aluminium cladding.
