Gable Retreat, Buckinghamshire

The site is located down a lane, on the edge of a hill, within Chalfont St. Peter, Buckinghamshire.

The brief for this project was to create a modest pavillion building that would nestle comfortably within the confines of the garden and amongst the mature trees surrounding.

The Clients were keen to have a little retreat, to enable them to step away from the busy home, relax, reflect and enjoy their established secluded garden. The building had to also be flexible for entertaining and casual cooking throughout the year.

The design is a slightly raised simple box form with a floating canopy, the ramped approach allows for arrival and entrance through a further projecting framed glazed box. High level glazing allows for sunlight to come flooding in throughout the day.

Internally the plan includes a living/eating space, and a small cooking/prep area with pizza oven.
